    I use bubble dance and helllfire with coelescence and ressussitate. Got artillary to lv 3 with djo lance and beezle waist i also have sneak attack at lv 1 with driftsmelting i tested this build to see the damage in train and a full combo with a wyvern fire is only doing 22k but with my build im doing 34k.. so i figure id share that. Bubble dance helps u dodge better for you hellfire blast to stick to the monster for extra damage.

    It is rare, but you could use Kaiser vambraces to get another level of artillery.

    you can change the waist with golden obi, grade 6 will give 2 lv of focus, then rathian vambraces for lock on.

    since you are skipping monster armor, and the shelling damage the same for all part, I guess it's yes

    Long gunlance build doesnt have lock on, is it really that dispensable?
