Unlock all weapon types and strategize in order to win encounters in Monster Hunter Now. Read on to know how to unlock more weapons and when to use each weapon type during hunts!

Starting Weapon |
New hunters will immediately notice that the Sword and Shield is equipped by default. Progress through the Main Story in order to unlock more weapon types!

 Great Sword |
Finish Chapter 2-2 |
Upon finishing Chapter 2-2, Hunters will unlock the Great Sword weapon type that allows them to tank damage from normal attacks, block, and counter by tackling enemies.

The rest of the weapons will be unlocked after finishing Chapter 3-1. However, upgrading them further than Grade 5 will require hunters to complete the story and unlock 6 star monster spawns for higher rarity items and materials.

Starting December 7, 2023, new hunters can get the Dual Blades and Lance during Chapter 2. Hunters who have already cleared this chapter when the updated launched automatically had these weapons available for crafting.
Fulminations in the Frost Update
Breaking monster parts let hunters get more rewards after the hunt ends so always aim to exploit a monster's elemental and weapon type weaknesses.
