How to Jump Attack

Charge and Release to Jump Attack with Sword and Shield

Charging up before attacking is the key to executing a jump attack when using a Sword and Shield. Hold down the attack button to charge first, then press the attack button again to perform a jump attack. This lets Hunters inflict more damage by landing critical hits on the monster's weak spot.

Execute a Jump Attack after a Perfect Dodge

MH Now - How to Perfect Dodge Preview 2

Upon pulling off a Perfect Dodge, Hunters gain temporary invulnerability to attacks, and allows them to charge in and execute combos smoothly.

Jump Attacks cannot be pulled off by every weapon type, but a weapon like Sword and Shield is capable of executing a jump attack right after a perfect dodge, so time the usage of special skills as a combo to inflict critical damage on a monster's weak spot.
