How to Upgrade Weapons

Max Out Weapon Levels

Weapons and Armor need to be maxed out before their grades can be raised. Leveling up costs zenny and upgrade materials, so make sure to have more than enough ready for both weapons and armor leveling.

Overgrade Weapons to Raise Equipment Skill Levels

Overgrading weapons and armor is necessary before facing high ranking monsters. Only specific weapons have Grade 4 equipment skills, so take note which equipment skill is beneficial in the long run before proceeding and overgrading to Grade 5.

Upon reaching Grade 8, all weapons have equipment skills but the requirements for overgrading are much rarer and comes in low quantities when it shows up. It needs a bit of grinding, so plan out which equipment skills to go for and only overgrade sets that match well with decent weapon builds in mind.

Raising a weapon and an armor's grade also affects and improves the level of special skills. Special Skills are tied to the weapon type that's equipped by a Hunter, and usually grants invulnerability to monster attacks upon execution.

Reach HR6 to Unlock Forging

Forging becomes available to Hunters who has reached HR6 and both weapons and armor will get marked with a red hammer icon that indicates if they can be crafted.

Craft Weapons via the Equipment Menu

Navigate to the Equipment Menu by tapping on the weapon icon at the home screen, then tap on a weapon or an armor that has a crafting icon. If all materials and zenny are sufficient, then Hunters may craft and equip the weapon or armor of their choice before heading out on a quest.
