Fulminations in the Frost New Monsters

Zinogre

Monster Hunter Now - December Zinogre Update

The main highlight of the December update is Zinogre, which was previously teased during the Tokyo Game Show presentation. It's a fanged wyvern that uses Thunder attacks, so hunters should now have more options for Thunder-element weapons.

Unlike the other monsters in the update, Zinogre can only be hunted during the new Hunt-a-thon feature.

Barioth

Monster Hunter Now - Barioth

Barioth was first teased to appear in Monster Hunter Now after showing its equipment. The Ice Tusk Wyvern is now confirmed as one of the four new monsters appearing in the update. It's also the first seasonal monster, only appearing during Winter from December to early March.

New Small Monsters

The Cortos and Wulg are new small monsters that inhabit the swamp biome during the Winter season.

Fulminations in the Frost Quest List

Complete the Fulminations in the Frost Special Event Quests

The update will feature its own set of Special Event Quests that introduces all the new monsters as Urgent Quests before encountering them on the field. Much like the story quests, each Urgent Quest to hunt the new monsters is preceded by a set of quests you must accomplish first.

These event quests will become available once you get access to 4-star monsters after clearing Chapter 6 and can be done until March 14, 2024, 0:00 AM UTC.

Fulminations in the Frost New Hunting Experience

Hunt-A-Thons

MH Now - Hunt-A-Thons
Hunt-a-thons are random events that transform some gathering points into Hunt-a-thon points where you can participate in a series of hunts!

Monster Hunter Now - Hunt-a-thon Screen

Hunt-a-thons will present you with the challenge of hunting five monsters in succession. Monsters in Hunt-a-thons will be stronger than the usual monsters you encounter in the field, so multiplayer is greatly encouraged.

Fulminations in the Frost New Weapons

Dual Blades and Lance

Monster Hunter Now - Dual Blades and Lance

The December update will also introduce two new weapon types in Monster Hunter Now — the Dual Blades and the Lance. Like the other weapon types, they also come with their own Special Skills and movesets, so prepare to forge more weapons!

Fulminations in the Frost New Element and Status Ailment

Sleep Element and Status Ailment

Sleep is the new element coming with the Fulminations in the Frost Update that inflicts the Sleep status ailment.

Inflicting the Sleep status to monsters will cause them to enter deep slumber. The first hit dealt to a sleeping monster will deal bonus damage.

All Radobaan Weapons have the Sleep Element, but these are limited to only three weapon types.

Weapon Balance Adjustments

Weapon Changes for Each Weapon Type

MH Now - Weapon Balance Adjustments

With the upcoming new weapon types, Niantic has announce a balance adjustment coming along with this update to the existing weapons for a more balanced and enjoyable experience for every hunter.

Here are the changes coming to each weapon type for the Fulminations in the Frost update:

Sword and Shield

  • The overall damage reduction rate when guarding against enemy attacks will be reduced.
  • A perfect guard will now be possible with well-timed guarding against enemy attacks. A perfect guard reduces damage more than normal guarding and activates the Offensive Guard skill (this is also the case with lances).
  • You will be able to transition from guard to backstep quicker than before.

Great Sword

  • The window of invincibility when tackling will now begin sooner.
  • The transition from a charged slash to the next level of charged slash will be quicker than before.
  • You will be able to evade more quickly after a charged slash.
  • After a jumping wide slash (achieved by tapping after a tackle) you will now be able to move into a charged slash by tapping and holding.

Hammer

  • When using lock on and charging your hammer, you will now be able to move toward the locked on target more smoothly.
  • You will be able to evade more quickly after all attacks.

Long Sword

No changes has been made to the Long Sword as Niantic believes its performance aligns with their current intentions for the weapon.

Bow

  • Damage reduction when there is distance between you and a monster will be greater.
  • All large monsters will be more resistant to shots aimed at their non-weak parts.
  • A perfect evade will now increase the charge level by two.
  • The speed of rapid arrows will be slightly increased for better accuracy when attacking the target part.

Light Bowgun

  • Damage reduction when there is distance between you and a monster will be greater.
  • All large monsters will be more resistant to shots aimed at their non-weak parts.
  • Achieving a perfect evade when your ammo is maxed out will grant a bonus of +1 to the number of ammo.

Fulminations in the Frost Other Features
