Limited to PS5 Versions of the Game

Battlefield 2042 Editions

The next-gen upgrade to Battlefield 2042 can only be accessed by players who own the Cross-Gen bundle of the game. The bundle is included in the Standard Edition for the PS5, as well as the Gold and Ultimate Editions of the game.

This means that players who purchased the Standard Edition of the game for the PS4 will not be able to upgrade to the next-gen version of Battlefield 2042 unless they purchase a PS5 copy.

How to Upgrade
Sign-in to account on the PS5 console. Search for the PS5 version of Battlefield 2042 on the PS Store. Look for the PS5 upgrade button and click on it. Select "Download" or "Buy at a discounted price".

For players who own the Standard Edition for the PS5 or the Gold and Ultimate Editions of the game, the process to grab the next-gen copy of the game is done simply by searching for the PS5 version of Battlefield 2042 on the Playstation Store or their Game Library. Download the PS5 version from there and play once finished.

Players who have made progress in unlocking many of the unlockable items, vehicles, gear, skins and even purchases made on the PS4 version of the game will be able to "carry" these over when they make the switch to the next-gen PS5. So long as players make use of the same EA account they use on the PS4 on the PS5 version of the game, they will have access to all of their progress.
