Is There a Story Campaign Mode?

Unlike the past several released titles in the franchise, Battlefield 2042 will not feature a campaign, dropping the feature in favor of focusing entirely on the multiplayer experience. No official statement has been released as to whether or not a campaign may be added later on in some form of DLC.

Fleshed Out Multiplayer Mode

Due to focus and shift away from developing a singleplayer campaign mode, most of the development around the game has centered around the creation of a promising multiplayer mode that goes to certain lengths that prior iterations of Battlefield have not gone before.

A number of new and returning features will be the higlights of multiplayer, including a whole new Battle Royale mode titled Hazard Zone.

What's the Story of Battlefield 2042?

Although it will not feature an in-game campaign that will narrate its overarching storyline, players will still have the chance to gleam some of the game's story through out-of-game media that DICE or EA will release, such as the World of 2042 info page on EA's official website.

It is also through this that future updates to the game's story will be posted in the form of additional media such as the Exodus trailer, which re-introduces two Battlefield characters from Battlefield 4 – Pac and Irish.

The year is 2042. The entire world has collapsed due to environmental factors and all-out war. Governments have fallen, but the war wages on against the two superpowers, US and Russia. It's up to you to turn the tide of battle.
