SMG's are the easiest weapons to use in Battlefield 2042. Weapons belonging to this class usually have high magazine sizes, incredible handling, and decent attachments that can allow the weapons of this class to excel in competition against other weapon types.
Players who like to unleash full loads of projectiles against enemies will find themselves at home with an SMG weapon's high fire rate and plentiful ammunition, allowing them more than a decent chance at winning one-on-one engagements against opponents.
Assault class weapons are the very first type of weapons that players may find themselves using as they begin both the Tutorial and their first real match in the game. Assault weapons excel in both close to mid and slightly long-ranged attacks and is essentially the "go-to" weapon class in-game.
This weapon type also ranks high due to how it can perfectly teach beginners the essentials to gunplay in 2042, as it is easy to learn game mechanics such as Bullet Drop and Weapon Spread without either mechanic crippling the assault class to the point of it being difficult to use.
For players who wish to have more precision in their weapons without sacrificing their effectiveness over mid-range combat, Marksman type weapons are their go-to solutions. Similar to Assault weapons, the Marksman class excels in mid to slightly long-ranged attacks against enemy infantry, with firepower and precision comparable to that of Snipers.
More often than not however, Marksman weapons will generally lose out to close-ranged options in close one-on-one engagements in confined spaces. However, given Battlefield 2042's large maps and large, open spaces, players will find little trouble finding a use for the rifles in this class.
A classic weapon class, Snipers are generally a player's go-to option if they wish to hit and kill enemies from a great distance without putting themselves in great danger. Capable of hitting enemies at distances exceeding 150 Meters, Snipers make players "almost" untouchable, only really vulnerable to an enemy's counter sniper-fire or aircraft that spots them hiding in vantage points.
The only caveat with Snipers is that they have a learning curve that players must overcome in order to use them effectively. Various game mechanics such as bullet-drop and projectile speed (or the time it takes bullets to reach enemies) must all be considered in order for Snipers to become a viable option for any player.
LMG Weapons are generally reserved for players who play a "tanky" type of playstyle, where they aren't afraid of going up against multiple enemies with the expectation that they will come out on top.
Large magazines, high firepower, and generally having a weighty "feel" to them, LMG type weapons are perfect for spraying and praying – it excels in providing your teammates with suppressing fire against enemies, particularly in narrow corridors and angles.
Utility weapons, or more popularly known as Shotguns, are generally excellent weapons used to terminate enemies up-close. Players armed with this weapon type – and further enhanced by various gadgets and attachments – can more than adequately dominate the often confined spaces that objectives can be found in.
This weapon type isn't the best, but more than excels in particular situations where its uses are required..
Not all weapon classes are easy to use, with some classes being far easier to use than others. This factor over everything else affects the ranking of each weapon class, as it takes some dedication and time to learn the gunplay of certain weapon types before a player can excel in them.
"Ease of Use" is essentially described as the success a player finds when picking up a weapon from a certain class and managing to use it effectively without any issue to their performance.
Another facet taken into consideration is the variety of weapons in a class. No weapon is the same as another, and the number and performance differences of each weapon in a class is considered prior to giving their ranking. As an example, the DM7 and SVK both belong to the Marksman class of weapons, and yet the performance of both differs greatly from one another.
Where the DM7 has greater magazine size at the cost of weaker firepower, the SVK has a smaller clip size with the benefit of having more firepower. The variety of weapons in a class can help players "consider" whether sticking to that class is worthwhile, particularly if they can unlock greater weapons in a class through the use of weapons in that category.
Each weapon and weapon class are vastly different in how they can be used in combat. No weapon is the same, but players will often have their favorites amongst all others. Cast your vote and discuss which weapon class is your favorite as you support your team in Battlefield 2042!
