Battlefield 2042 will be available on all major platforms including Xbox, Playstation, and PC. For a complete list of all platforms Battlefield 2042 will be playable on, as well as console differences, read on!

Differences Between Platforms

Map Size

Battlefield 2042 - In-Game Map
Large scale maps will be available for next gen platforms and PC only.

Player Number per Game

Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions will have a player count capped at 64 players while next gen platforms and PC versions will have a player count capped at 128 players.

Is Cross Platform Play Available?

Developers Working on Cross Platform Play

Battlefield 2042 - Co-Op
The developers have noted that they are still building the cross platform functionality and tested it out during the Technical Playtest.

No word yet on how cross platform play will work beyond the Technical Playtest but an overview was given by the developers on what to expect once cross platform play is available.

  • Players running on PS5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC can play together.
  • Players running on Xbox One and PS4 can play together.

Cross Commerce and Cross Progression

Battlefield 2042 supports cross progression and cross commerce functionality which means your unlocked progress and completed purchases can be carried over to all platforms provided you use the same EA account. This, however, does not include the bonus contents from the pre-orders and Special Edition purchase.
