Quick Review Of Taming Monsters

Check for a Heart Icon

When you give an item to a monster, check if a Heart icon will appear. If you don't see a Heart icon, it will be impossible to tame that monster. Give the monster different items to find which item it likes for a better chance of taming them!

Use Your Brush on the Monster

When attempting to tame a monster, you can use your brush to increase the probability of making taming them. You can brush a monster up to 15 times so if you're having a difficult time taming monsters, this option can be useful!

Tame the Nine-Tailed Fox as Soon as Possible

Nine-Tailed Fox	Easy to tame since it drops Nine-Tailed Fox Bell, which is one of the items it likes Powerful long-range attacks make it useful in battle

It is highly recommended to tame the Boss Monster, Nine- Tailed Fox, as soon as you can. Not only does it have a variety of long-range attacks, but its also one the fastest monsters you can capture. Making it a reliable ally in the early game and a convenient way to travel through the world quickly.

Probability of Taming Nine-Tailed Fox

Our team verified the probability of taming Nine-Tailed Fox and they found success 4 times out of 10.
While this number is relatively small, not using a brush at all will the eliminate any and all chances of taming Nine-Tailed Fox.

Farm Items Does Field Chores Ride the Monster Fights Alongside You

Farm Items

Some monsters give you materials once a day as well as immediately after taming it. Increasing your friendship level will also increase the level of the materials you get so its best to actively increase your friendship level.

Monsters will also be available to do Field Chores! Once your friendship reaches a level of 3 or higher, you can assign them to work.

Ride the Monster

It is possible to ride some monsters. Simply approach the monster and press A then select Ride. There are some monsters such as Nine-Tailed Fox that move much faster than you do on your own so its recommended to take them along when exploring.

Fights Alongside You

Once you've tamed a monster, you can take it to battle and have it fight alongside you. To do this, simply approach it and press A then select Take along. It will then follow you and attack with you in battle.

What To Do When A Monster Can't Be Tamed

Check If There is Space Available in Your Monster Barn Pressing and Holding ZL Only Captures Monsters Temporarily Boss Monsters Can Only Be Tamed When Given An Item They Like Taming The Same Monster Multiple Times Will Be Difficult After Taming It A 2nd Time Taming A Monster With A Higher Level Than Yours Will Be Difficult

Check If There is Space Available in Your Monster Barn

If a monster barn is full, you will not be able to tame anymore monsters no matter how many items you give it. The smallest barn allows a maximum of 4 monsters so if you can't tame a monster, there's a possibility that the capacity has been exceeded.

A monster barn can be expanded at Palmo Studio, so it might be a good idea to explore this option.

Clear out monsters to make room

You may also opt to make room for monsters by selecting Send to Forest of Beginnings. Keep in mind that by selecting this option monsters sent away will not comeback so only select this option if you're willing to completely let go of a monster.

Spell Seals Only Capture Monsters Temporarily

Pressing and Holding ZL lets you use Spell Seals and will only capture monsters temporarily. Monsters captured this way will return to the forest after one day passes.

How to Check If A Monster Is Captured By Spell Seals

When you approach a monster and see the Release option, this means you've only temporarily captured this monster and haven't tamed it.

Boss Monsters Can Only Be Tamed When Given An Item They Like

Boss Monsters can only be tamed when given an item they like. If they are given an item they don't like, a skull and crossbones icon will appear. If they like an item, the Heart symbol will appear.

It's Possible To Tame A Boss Monster After Defeating It Once.

Boss Monsters such as Nine-Tailed Fox and Cerberus can be tamed after defeating them once.

Taming The Same Monster Will Be Difficult The 2nd Time Around

When players are taming the same monster a 2nd time, they will have a lower success rate. To increase your chance of taming it, you can either use your brush or give its favorite item.

Taming A Monster With A Higher Level Than Yours Will Be Difficult

If your level is lower than a monster, it will be difficult trying to tame it. If the monster you're facing has its name displayed in orange or red, it means the monster has a higher level than yours. In this case, make sure to raise your level first.
