Leveling up your skills lets you learn more recipes in Rune Factory 5 (RF5). Read on to learn how to level up your Crafting, Cooking, Forging, and Chemistry skills quickly, and the benefits of raising their levels!
The best way to increase Crafting, Cooking, Forging, and Chemistry skill levels is by repeatedly failing a recipe using junk items. You can use any item that you have an excess of, but we recommend using Scrap Metal as they are very easy to find, especially if you mine a lot.
1 | Interact with the station you want to increase your skill level on. Forging: Forge Chemistry: Chemistry Set Crafting: Crafting Table Cooking: Cooking Table, Knife, Frying Pan, Mixer, Oven, Steamer, or Pot |
---|---|
2 | Select the recipe with the highest skill requirement. |
3 | Remove all the selected materials. |
4 | Add a junk item as a material and raise the amount crafted to maximum by pressing the right arrow. |
5 | Press OK. The process should fail and you will receive a junk item depending on the station you used. |
6 | Repeat the process from step 2. |
Each failed attempt will still yield Skill EXP and consume a small amount of RP. The resulting item can also be used for the next attempts, so as long as you have RP, you can repeat the proccess as many times as you need.
Using Scrap Metal to fail an attempt sometimes give Scrap Metal+ as Failed Dish sometimes give Disastrous Dish—both reusable for the Skill EXP farming method.
Before you start grinding Skill levels, try to make a Heart Pendant first on your crafting table. Equipping this accessory increases skill EXP gain.
Crafting a Heart Pendant requires a Silver Pendant and a Love Crystal. You can also buy a Heart Pendant from the rotating stock at The Crystalabra.
You can only learn new recipes from eating a Recipe Bread once you meet the required Skill level for the recipe you have yet to unlock. For weapon recipes, you should also have sufficient Skill level for the weapon type, in addition to the Forging Skill level, to unlock a new recipe from a Weapon Bread.
Raising a skill level also increases your stats. This includes your Skill level in Cooking, Forging, Chemistry, and Crafting.
Skill | Increased Stat |
---|---|
Cooking | RP and VIT |
Forging | RP, STR, and VIT |
Chemistry | RP, INT, and VIT |
Crafting | RP and INT |
