Tips and Tricks: Beginner's Guide to Rune Factory 5

Effective Early Game Progression

Early Game Settings to Consider
1	Prioritize increasing your backpack's carrying capacity
2	Turn on Ranger Support for
3	Equip the Claymore as you soon as you get it
4	Equip the Beginner's Crest

Unlock New Areas by Progressing the Main Storyline

To start off, make sure to play through the Main Story events. Depending on your progress, you will unlock new areas to explore, which in turn causes new people to visit Rigbarth.

You can Check your Story progress on the Ranger Note Screen of the Menu

Story progress can alway be checked by pressing the + button and the Ranger Note menu screen (third from the right). Be sure to check it whenever you are having trouble.

Go to Areas Pinned on the Map to Progress the Story

Objective Marker

Whenever you view your map (press the - Button), the areas related to the Main Story will be pinned. If you're unsure as to where to go to progress the Main storyline, check your map to view any areas that are pinned.

Resting is Recommended Whenever the Story Does not Automatically Progress

There are times when the Main Story does not proceed and new pinned areas do not appear on the map. It is recommended that you rest whenever this happens. Resting will cause a flag related to the Main Story to appear.

Accept Requests to Increase the Number of Available Activities

There is a Task Board located to the right of the Outpost. By completing as many requests as you can, additional requests as well as other activities become available.

You can Receive Farming Tools for Completing Quests

Tools received the Tutorials/Quests
Cheap Hoe	Cheap Waterpot	Cheap Axe
Cheap Rod	Cheap Sickle	Cheap Hammer

You will receive the Shabby Set of tools upon completing the early game quests. For those who would like to start farming, harvesting materials, and mining as soon as possible, we recommend clearing these quest as soon as possible.

Quests Requiring You to Deliver Items Will Not Be Cleared Until 8 am the Next Day

Game quests that require you to ship items will not be cleared until 8 am of the next day. Do not worry as this is built into the game and not a bug.

Save up Seed Points to Unlock New Features

How to Earn	Seed Points Earn
Clear Quests	100P for each quest cleared
Slay Monsters	2P for each minor monster 20P for each Boss monster
Talk to the Townsfolk	1P for each person (You can earn a point from each person only once a day)

Seed points can be used to earn Blacksmith and Pharmacy licenses, conduct festivals and other features that make gameplay more enjoyable. As such make sure to earn skills points whenever possible.

Make Money to Improve your Quality of Life

Return lost items to their owners Cultivate items on the Dragon Farm ┗ If something can be cooked, cooking it will raise the shipping price Catch (Hornets)

Earning money is important as it is usd to purchase a variety of items. Returning dropped items and shipping items you cultivate on the Dragon Farm allow you to easily earn money in the early game. Furthermore, if you capture Hornets, you can sell the Honey that they make for a high price. This method is recommended for farming money in the early game.

Participate in the Bean-Toss Contest

Out of the early game contests available, the Bean Planting Contest can be won, even as a beginner. The first festival that occurs, the cooking Contest, is very difficult to win on your first try. However, if you hand over food that you get from treasure chests, you can at least receive the Participation Award.

Build a Monster Barn and Tame Monsters

Make sure to build a Monster Barn to raise monsters. Completing various quests that will make you able to build the Monster Barn which you can buy at Studio Palmo. After you build your stable you can befriend monsters that you find in the wild by giving them items.

Using a Brush to Pet Monsters Increases your Chance of Taming Them

When capturing a monster, brushing them when you attempt to pet them will increase your chance to befriend them. Since you can only do this 15 times, it is best to save this for monsters that are difficult to befriend.

When a musical note does not appear, this means that the monster's friendliness towards you is maxed out.

Get a Cooking Table to Start Cooking Your Own Food

Recommended	Reason/How to get
Basic Counter	Turnips, which you get early game, can now be cooked You can receive the Basic Table by talking to Palmo. Once it appears on the right side of his workshop, you can pick it up You can also buy it at Studio Palmo
Kitchen Knife	Great for cooking fish. Purchasable at Studio Palmo

We recommend buying these first two items during the early part of the game. Cooking items allows you to sell them for a higher price, as well as improve your skill with cooking.

Earn your Cooking License

You earn your cooking license from Eliza at the Rigbarth Outpost. Earning a license requires using Seed points.

Get a Refrigerator to Store your Food

Your backpack tends to fill up very quickly, so we recommend buying a refrigerator to store your food. It can be purchased at Palmo's workshop.

Priortize Increasing your Backpack's Carrying Capacity

Focus on increasing your backpack's carrying capacity by talking to Eliza. Once you head out on your adventure, your backpack will fill up soon, so talk to Eliza and select the [Customize] and the [Create] options to improve your backpack's carrying capacity when you can.

Turn On Ranger Support

Talking to the ranger member on the 1st floor of the Rigbarth Outpost to change your Battle Support Settings. When your HP is low, a Seed ranger will appear and heal you. This feature will activate periodically.

Equip the Claymore When you Receive it

Claymore	Get after completing Martin's tutorial on making weapons

Equipping the Claymore, a weapon that you receive after completing Martin's tutorial, is very effective in dealing damage to enemies. However once you find a stronger weapon on your adventure be sure to equip the stronger item.

Equip any Seed Crests

The Beginner's Crest which you receive in the early game should be equipped as soon as you get it. It will not only increase your Max HP, but it will allow you stay at Inns where you can gain your Hp and RP free of charge. You can change Seed Crests settings by opening the Menu with the + Button and accessing your Ranger Notes

Daily Flow of Events in the Early Game

6:00 am	After waking up,tidy up the area around the farm ┗ Pick up any dropped items ┗ Remove and stumps or rocks lying around
7:00 am	Begin farming ┗ Activities such as watering, plowing, and planting ★Monsters with a friendly rank of 3 or more will help you with these tasks.
8:00 am	Take care of your monsters/ ┗ You can brush them once a day ┗ Give them items(Bonus if it's there favorite) ┗ Store grass in the barn
9:00 am	Greet everyone in the town ★Talking to people, as well as trading items with them with increase their friendliness to you ★Any your that has a friendliness level of 3 or higher can join you on your adventure
11:00 am	Buy Recipe Bread ┗ You can buy these at the Bakery or Restaurant
11:30 am	Purchase Items ┗Buy seeds at the General Store ┗ Buy things such as workbenches at Studio Palmo ★Buy any items that you may be lacking
12:00 pm	Defeat the Boss at each Story Mission area ★You can fight these bosses everyday. Try to get the rare items that they drop.
1:00 pm	Progress the Main Story ★Check your main story from your Member Note section in the Menu
Remaining time	Free Time ┗ Explore the Overworld ┗Defeat Enemies ┗ Go fishing along the coast ┗ Clear any available dungeons ┗ Increase your current level ★ Essentially do whatever it is that you want to do
Until 5:59 am	Go to sleep on the 2nd floor of the Outpost ★Sleeping until 5:59 am will heal your HP and FP as well as increase your Sleep Growth Skill ★Although it's not necessary, it is recommended to sleep until 5:59 am.

Play the Game the Way that you Want

	More so than anything, play the game in the style that suits you. Many events involving Dating, Battle, Alchemy, and Exploration are available. As long as you make sure to progress the game, you can choose to focus on what interests you.While a typical day of play has been recommended playing style varies among each player.
