Soil level plays a big part in planting and harvesting your crops in Rune Factory 5 (RF5). Read on to learn how to improve your soil level as well as tips on getting better crops!
List of Contents
Harvesting crops in the same soil will increase its soil level and overall improve its stats. Higher soil levels allow for better crops produced and increased durability from weather elements such as hurricanes. In addition to planting crops in the same soil, players may opt to use items like Greenifier or Formula A to improve soil level more conveniently.
Farming Guide and How to Grow Crops Well
As you continue to plant and harvest more and more crops, always take some time to examine the soil you plant on. This can be done by equipping a Magnifying Glass and walking over the soil. From here, you can gauge if a specific square needs any special attention.
Stat Name | Effect |
---|---|
Overall Soil Level | The level of the soil itself. Indicates its health and resistance to disasters, and increases the number of resulting crops. |
Speed Level | Determines the speed at which crops grow. This stat starts at 1.0x and maxes out at 3.9x the normal rate. By using the Formula A/B/C series of Nutrient items, this can temporarily be increased to as high as 5x. |
Quality Level | Determines the level of the Crop or Seeds resulting from the plant. When this is maxed out, you can obtain a Crop or Seeds at a level 2-3 higher than normal. |
Size Level | Determines the size of the Crop. This can be used for forming Giant Crops. If you plant four of the same type of Crop in a single plot and they are of a large enough size, they can merge into a single Giant Crop. |
Number (No.) Level | Determines the number of Crops resulting from a single plant. |
Among your options are adding weeds/withered leaves to your Fertilizer Bin, placing elements (such as withered grass or corn) over a square and hitting it with a hoe to raise its health. You could also just not plant in that square and simply leave it unsown, allowing the soil to recover.
You can check the quality and overall stats of your soil (along with crops) by using a Magnifying Glass. This item can be purchased for 2000G from the Serendipity General Store.
Combine your tools with a Magnifying Glass to instantly see the stats of soil and crops with out having to constantly switch between tools. This can be done by adding a Magnifying Glass to the recipe of a farm tool. Alternatively, you may upgrade existing tools by placing the Magnifying Glass in the ingredient slot.
