A grand new assignment in uncharted lands. A flock of Legiana were spotted fleeing from the Ancient Forest. Sensing they were on the cusp of something unusual, the Research Commission decided to board the Third Fleet's airship and crossed the sea in pursuit. What they found past the rough seas was a new landmass, locked beneath snow and ice. The Research Commission ventures out into a new ice-cold region known as the "Hoarfrost Reach." This new region is completely unexplored, so discovering new monsters and endemic life will be one of the Commission's most important goals. |
Iceborne goes beyond the Low and High Rank Quests of Monster Hunter World to bring a new Master Rank to the forefront. The Master Rank is equivalent to the G-Rank of previous Monster Hunter games, and brings a new level of difficulty to the game for players who are ready to take the next step.
Together with the voyage to a new land comes new, more powerful monsters. And with changes in the ecosystem, new monsters will appear in previously-explored lands as well.
Monsters which appeared in previous installments of the Monster Hunter series are reappearing in Monster Hunter World for the first time. New variations on previously encountered monsters arrive as well to pose a challenge for even the most intrepid hunters.
You won't be fighting with just the same old tools – Iceborne brings a new action, the Clutch Claw, available to users of all weapons. Use the Clutch Claw to grab on to a Monster from a medium range, then use your position to combo into an attack, or even change the monster's course of movement to lead them right into a trap.
