You can unlock this quest by picking up the notice Contract: Imp on the notice board at Hierarch Square in Novigrad.
You cannot miss or fail this quest.

| 1 | Go to the marketplace and talk to Sylvester Amello about the contract. |
| 2 | Follow the footprints and read the letter on the table. |
| 3 | Investigate the clothes on the upper floor and follow the scent. |
| 4 | Talk to the temple guard then chase the doppler. |
| 5 | Defeat the Doppler and choose how to deal with him. |
| 6 | Report back to Sylvester Amello about the contract. |
If you spare the doppler, he will give you 215 crows and a diagram for the Gnomish Gwyhyr steel sword but, Sylvester Amello will only pay you half the agreed amount.
If you kill the doppler Sylvester Amello will pay you with the full agreed amount on the contract.
The best choice in this quest is to Kill the Doppler. Even if you will receive more crowns when you spare the doppler, this is the only way to get the doppler mutagen and the doppler trophy.
