The Type of a Monster will determine what Oil it is weak against. For example, Monsters of the Necrophage Type will receive 10% extra damage from Swords coated in Necrophage oil.

You can only encounter a Doppler in combat during the Contract: An Elusive Thief. When facing the Doppler in combat, they will copy Geralt's body and skills during the fight. When this happens the best way to deal with them is to fight them as if they were normal humans.
Counterattacking them is the best option during this fight. Even though they look and act like a human, Steel Swords and Hanged Man's Venom is not effective against them.
You should use your Silver Sword and coat it with Relict oil to deal bonus damage to them.
