You can unlock this quest by picking up the notice Contract: Nils' Disappearance on the notice board at Svorlag or if you discover Melusine's cave while exploring.

| 1 | Go near to the docks and talk to Kevan about the contract. |
| 2 | Go and talk to Britt about the contract then head to the cave she mentioned. |
| 3 | Examine the clues in the cave using your Witcher Senses. |
| 4 | Find Melusine by following the Siren tracks using your Witcher Senses |
| 5 | Examine Nils' dead body and kill the Ekhidna. |
| 6 | Go back and report to Kevan about the contract. |
| 7 | Go and tell Britt what happened to Nils. (If you agreed with Kevan to tell Britt what happened to Nils.) |

Combat Strategies
Drowners
- Coat you Silver Sword with Necrophage Oil to deal bonus damage to them.
- Ignite the toxic glass clouds in the cave to kill multiple drowners at once.
- Use the Igni Sign to burn them and give yourself a large opening to attack.

Ekhidna
- Coat your Silver Sword with Hybrid Oil to deal bonus damage to them.
- You can only knock down this Ekhidna by shooting it with a crossbow or using the Aard Sign when it swoops down and tries to attack you.
- When it is down on the ground use Igni, Dancing Star Bombs, and Dragon's Dream Bombs to burn it.
