How to Unlock Contract: Phantom of the Trade Route

You can unlock this contract quest by talking to the Refugee at Velen near Benek or by walking towards the cart at the middle of the road, north of Benek.

Contract: Phantom of the Trade Route Walkthrough

Objectives
1 Talk to the Refugee infront of the hut near Benek.
2 Find the missing caravan.
3 Examine the cart and follow the scent using your Witcher Senses.
4 Find the Wyvern's Nest and kill the Wyverns.
5 Destroy the two Wyvern's Nest and wait for the Royal Wyvern.
6 Kill the Royal Wyvern and take the Trophy from its corpse.
7 Return to the refugee and collect your reward.

Questing Tips

Re-applying Oils

Once you kill the smaller wyverns, you will have to destroy their nests to lure out the Royal Wyvern. Use this moment to re-apply your oils and prepare your bombs before engaging the Royal Wyvern.

Clear the Area

This area is full of wolves ready to attack. Try clearing the area first before exploring for clues using your witcher senses, this can help you progress the quest a lot easier.

Quest Reward

You will receive a decent amount of XP and gold as a reward for finishing this quest. You also can receive the sword Anathema aside from the Wyvern Trophy upon looting the corpse.

Combat Strategies

Royal Wyvern (Wyvern)

  • Coat your Silver Sword with Draconid Oil to deal bonus damage to them.
  • Golden Oriole Potion can help you be more agressive during the fight. This can prevent you from being poisoned incase you get hit by the wyvern's attacks.
  • Grapeshot Bombs can also ve used to deal massive damage on wyverns while they are on the ground. Use this bomb at the beginning of the fight while they are in range.
  • Cast the Quen Sign to boost your defense against the powerful wyvern attacks.
