You can unlock this quest after picking up the notice Contract: Monster in Oxenfurt on the notice board at Oxenfurt.
You cannot miss or fail this quest.

| 1 | Go to the Oxenfurt docks and talk to Nikolas Friedman about the contract. |
| 2 | Go to The Alchemy and talk to the witness. |
| 3 | Examine the site where the witness was attacked then go talk to the medic. |
| 4 | Examine the bodies in the morgue then go back to The Alchemy to get drunk. |
| 5 | Walk around the quest markers and defeat the Katakan. |
| 6 | Follow the Katakan using your Witcher Senses then enter the Hut and kill the Katakan. |
| 7 | Report back to Nikolas Friedman about the contract. |
