Having high damage output is necessary for this fight. At the beginning of the battle, use Auron's Banishing Blade or Rikku's Frag Grenade to remove Ironclad's armored status. This will make all Celestial Weapons to deal unreduced damage. This will also allow overdrives to deal the highest damage possible.
If Wakka is in the party and has a high strength stat, Make him use Attack Reels to quickly deal millions of damage (assuming that it's dealing max damage) and have someone use entrust to refill Wakka's Overdrive and have him use Attack Reels again. With this strategy, it is possible to kill Ironclad in 2 turns.

First. Make sure to have AURON's overdrive full for the 1st time you do this. Then, put on LONER Overdrive on AURON. Have around 9999HP or more. Then, have a BREAK DMG LIMIT Weapon equipped with AURON able to hit for close to 999999 per regular attack. On the SPHERE GRID, add some EVASION NODES and activate them till AURON is closer to 255/max, in Evasion Stat. Start fight. Haste AURON, escape with all others. Then, BANISHING BLADE. Simply attack about 18x till Ironclad dead. Rinse & repeat.
