Final Fantasy X Elements guide

This page explains the five Elements, how Elements are used, and what their strengths and weaknesses are in the game Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remastered (FF 10, FF X). Read on to learn more about elements and how to exploit them.

Elements

Elements are characteristics of magics and equipment in the game. There are five elements in the game.

Fire Element

Fire is an element that opposes Ice. Weapons imbued with Firestrike will deal Fire elemental damage to enemies. Spells like Firaga will deal Fire elemental damage to enemies as well. The Overdrive of Ifrit HellFire also deals Fire elemental damage.

Ice Element

Ice is an element that opposes Fire, Weapons imbued with Icestrike will deal Ice elemental damage to enemies. Spells like Blizzaga will deal Ice elemental damage to enemies as well. The Overdrive of Shiva Diamond Dust also deals Ice elemental damage.

Water Element

Water is an element that opposes Lightning, Weapons imbued with Water strike will deal Water elemental damage to enemies. Spells like Waterga will deal Water elemental damage to enemies as well.

Lightning Element

Thunder is an element that opposes Water, Weapons imbued with Thunder strike will deal Thunder elemental damage to enemies. Spells like Thundaga will deal Thunder elemental damage to enemies as well. The Overdrive of Ixion Thor's Hammer also deals Thunder elemental damage.

Holy Element

Holy is a unique element and has no opposing elements in the available elements in the game. Holy element is highly effective against the undead. No Aeons can deal holy elemental damage by using overdrives.

Effects of Elements

Increases or reduces damage

FFX Elements strengths and weaknesses
Hitting an enemy weak to a certain element will deal more damage. This also works in reverse as hitting enemies with an element they are strong at may reduce the damage dealt or even absorb it. Below is the list of effects by using elements against enemies:

  • X1.5= Deals 50% more damage than normal to that target.
  • 1/2= Deals 50% less damage than normal to that target
  • + = will heal the target instead of damaging it.
  • / = The target will not receive any damage.
