The Mandarin is a humanoid monster in the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Check out this guide for information on the Mandarin, its locations, and how to beat it!
List of Contents
The Mandarin really only has 1 attack to watch out for when its clung to the ceiling, which is its Leg Sweep. Besides that, you can pretty much bully it using melee attacks.
Should the Mandarin attempt to hit you with its signature slam and miss, it leaves itself vulnerable as it's even slower on the ground when using its legs.
Just watch out its follow up tongue attack and you should have a generous window to melee it.
The Mandarin is rather slow, making it a perfect target for the Shotgun.
Move | Description |
---|---|
Front Double Slam | The Mandarin leaps from the ceiling, slamming both of its large arms down with thunderous force. |
Leg Sweep | Rears back its right leg before doing a 180-degree sweep attack. (Can only be done when clinging to the ceiling). |
Tongue Lash | Raises its body up before quickly extending its tongue straight in front. |
Toungenado | Usually performs this move after a Front Double Slam. It swirls its tongue around itself. |
Roar | Lets out a loud roar. Causes no damage but does stagger you. |
You first encounter this monster as you head through a long, dark tunnel after unlocking the bolted door with a Wrench.
After defeating Abstract Daddy, you gain access to the deeper sections of this area. While you cannot defeat them, Mandarins will stalk you throughout this level wherever there are grated floors
After you acquire the Cinderella Figurine on the third floor, you get to fight the Mandarin that busts through the wall.
A monster with a female-like figure bound in a garment that resembles a straightjacket and has grotesquely large arms.

The Mandarin is almost like a mini-boss enemy given its rarity and tenacity. You only face Mandarins once you reach the Lakeview Hotel, and even then, you fight, at most, less than 5 of them throughout the entire game.
