warning. if you kill the mandarin enemies in the ruined labyrinth rooms with the red lights the game may soft break and the door to exit will never open, I had to reload my save and repeat the section because of this instead of just running around until the time ran out.
It says you can’t defeat the mandarins that stalk you through the grated flooring but that is incorrect. Even the very first one you encounter can be defeated. While they are hanging under you, you can shoot their arms that are attached to the grate. Shoot one at a time and they will drop their arm from the grate. Then usually they will attack with their tongue through the floor. Dodge it and quickly shoot the other arm still attached and they will detach and fall into the void, permanently.
correction! you actually first see these when crossing a bridge somewhere in south vale, then later on in the labyrinth
