All Weapons in the Silent Hill 2 Remake
There are a total of six weapons in the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Here's a list of all weapons in the order you find them:
- Wooden Plank
- Steel Pipe
- Handgun
- Shotgun
- Hunting Rifle
- Chainsaw (New Game Plus Only)
Are the Great Knife and Hyper Spray in the Remake?
The Great Knife can be found in the Labyrinth. However, it's found as an interactable object and is not an unlockable weapon.
The Hyper Spray is not yet confirmed to be in the game. Stay tuned for updates!
All Weapon Locations and How to Get Them

| Apartment Complex on Martin Street |
The Wooden Plank is the first weapon you get in the Silent Hill 2 remake. It's in an apartment complex on Martin Street in Eastern South Vale. You get it automatically in a cutscene where a Lying Figure attacks you.

The Steel Pipe is the second melee weapon you find, and will replace your Wooden Plank. You get it after a cutscene in Katz Street, after James uses the Wooden Plank to lock a gate.

The Handgun is the third weapon and first gun you find in the Silent Hill 2 Remake. You can find it in a red cart in Room 217 of Wood Side Apartments. Some handgun ammo is conveniently placed nearby.

You can find the Shotgun once you reach Brookhaven hospital. It's located in the Women's Locker Room, which is west of the second floor.

The Hunting Rifle is locked in a gun display case in the Toluca Prison Armory. You need the Armory Key to unlock the case.
Chainsaw Location

| Unlocked in New Game Plus |
The Chainsaw is only available in New Game Plus, which is unlocked after beating the game at least once. You find it pretty early into your new game, on the path towards the Silent Hill Ranch. It sticks out from a pile of logs, so it's hard to miss.
Best Weapons in the Silent Hill 2 Remake
Chainsaw is the Strongest Weapon
The Chainsaw is the strongest weapon in the Silent Hill 2 Remake because it can literally one-shot any enemy in the game. The downside is that it's hard to use on enemies that are on the wall and it's only available in New Game Plus.
Shotgun is the Overall Best Weapon
The Shotgun is the best weapon to use in the Silent Hill 2 Remake. It can defeat any enemy by using one or two bullets, it can be used to shoot enemies on the walls or ceiling, and it can shoot multiple enemies at once.
Handgun is the Most Reliable Weapon
The Handgun is the most reliable weapon in the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Although it doesn't provide much damage compared to the Shotgun, it can still be used to immobilize enemies and shoot them from a distance.
