Unlock the Lakeview Hotel Observation Room with Dog Key

To get the Dog Ending, you need to go to the Lakeview Hotel Observation Room instead of entering Room 312. You can enter the Observation Room using the Dog Key, an item obtained by combining two Broken Key Parts.

Collect the Broken Key Part (Paw)

You can find the Broken Key Part (Paw) inside the Pet Center beside Big Jay's in Eastern South Vale. This place is only accessible when playing on New Game Plus.

Collect the Broken Key Part (Bone)

The Broken Key Part (Bone) is found on Katz Street in Western South Vale. You will see it near a white gate with a bone symbol among the abandoned houses. This area can be explored after unlocking the Jacks Inn gate, otherwise it will be inaccessible.

Combine the Broken Key Parts

Once you have both Key Parts, go into your inventory to combine them. This will give you the Dog Key.

Go to the Lakeview Hotel Observation Room

When it's time for you to enter Room 312 in Lakeview Hotel, go to the Observation Room instead. These two rooms are right next to each other so the Observation Room is hard to miss.

Unlock the door with the Dog Key and step inside to trigger the Dog Ending.

What is the Dog Ending?

The Dog Was Behind Everything

James enters the Observation Room to find a dog pushing a bunch of buttons on a control panel. He confronts the dog while speaking Polish and falls to his knees in disbelief, implying that the dog has been in control of everything going on in Silent Hill. This is a nonsensical ending that was put in the game to get some laughs from the players.
