While it moves way faster in this state, it's also more vulnerable. If you manage to land a melee attack when it's like this, you'll momentarily stun it, leaving it open.
Melee attacks after dodging are stronger than regular attacks. Punish this thing with dodge counters whenever possible.
The Steel Pipe eventually replaces the Wooden Plank and becomes your go-to melee weapon. It gets the job done against these monsters.

Vomit | The Lying Figure bends over, then lets out a gushing stream of an unknown liquid in an area in front of it. |
Vomit Spray | Slightly rears back its head before swiftly bringing it down to try and catch you off guard. |
Headbutt | The Lying Figure goes on a quick rampage and will chain his Overhead Chop and Horizontal Sweep attacks together in a random pattern. |
Body-Check | The Lying Figure stands its ground and will slightly shake. It then leaps a short distance and will pin you if you do not evade in time. |
Death Throw Puke (Otherworld) | Lying Figures in the Otherworld will sometimes spew their vomit before dying. Avoid these pools as they cause damage within the first few seconds. |
The Lying figure is the first enemy you encounter and will often run into it as you progress through the game.
A Lying Figure resembles a mental institution patient with a straitjacket due to the flesh that covers its upper body. James will often encounter this enemy lying on the ground.

The Lying Figure is the most common enemy you'll encounter throughout the game. It walks like a zombie shambler when standing, but is very fast when moving on the ground.
Lying Figures in the Otherworld have a slightly more Gothic look, sporting a more blackish hue and having spike-like protrusions across its body.
