Stick With One Puzzle Difficulty

A Keypad Puzzle

Try to stick with one puzzle difficulty and familiarize yourself with all the safe codes, keypad, and combination lock. Almost all the puzzles, codes, answers, stays the same each playthrough so why not familiarize yourself on one difficulty.

Gathering hints and clues for each code in every puzzle is very time consuming anyways.

Go Past Enemies if Possible

Spider Mannequin

Past by any enemy possible in the game, especially the Creepers. Less time killing enemies means more time can be spent on other things, like running.

Unfortunately, some enemies in the game can't be easily evaded, like the Spider Mannequins and Bobble Head Nurses.

Use the Chainsaw or Steel Pipe

Steel Pipe and Chainsaw

The most recommended weapon in order to speedrun the game efficiently is the Chainsaw. Because it can literally one-shot almost all the enemies that you can encounter and you get the Chainsaw very early in the New Game Plus.

Other recommended weapons include the Handgun, for those pesky Spider Mannequins that climb on walls.
