Use a Weapon

James Wielding the Wooden Plank

Equip a weapon and use it on a window to destroy it. Melee weapons are more efficient for this since you're going to want to save ammo for tough enemy encounters.

Not All Windows Are Breakable

Not every window in Silent Hill 2 Remake can be destroyed. These windows are usually boarded up or obscured in some way. Other windows will simply refuse to break no matter how many times you try.

Unlike doors that cannot be opened, windows that aren't breakable will not be marked on the map.

Tracked Through the Trophies Menu

The Shattered achievement can only be tracked in the trophies menu and not in game.

You can achieve Shattered at any point of the game. Loading a save file will not reset the tracker for Shattered, so you can find a breakable window near a save point and break it repeatedly to farm the achievement.
