This is a guide to the Thunderblight Ganon boss fight in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (BotW).
List of Contents
Like all Ganon fights, this battle has two phases. Thunderblight Ganon's attack pattern will change after you get his HP down to 50%, so watch his moves carefully. In the second phase, Thunderblight Ganon will summon electricity to his axe, making his melee attacks electric. Like Guardians, try to aim for his eye.
Thunderblight Ganon moves quickly, and unlike other Ganon fights, he will keep rushing to you for an attack. Do your best to parry and do perfect dodges, so you have the opportunity to attack back.
Enlarge Dash and Slice |
Thunderblight Ganon quickly dashes in a zigzag motion by teleporting, and slices his axe. Move away, or do a perfect dodge or parry to attack back. |
Enlarge Three Electric Balls |
He swings his axe to summon three balls of electricity in your direction. Simply move away to avoid them. |
With his shield up, you will not be able to shoot him with your bow. The best way to attack is to let him attack you, and by successfully dodging or parrying, you will have an opportunity to strike back.
Use a strong weapon and keep attacking him until you break his shield. This will knock him out, giving you more time to deal damage.
Enlarge Electrocuted Metal Pillars |
Thunderblight Ganon drops metal pillars in your area, and casts electricity on them. Staying close to one will electrocute you, so move away. To counter it, use Magnesis and drag a pillar to Ganon to electrocute him. |
Enlarge Multiple Slices |
Similar to the first phase; he dashes to your direction, but slices his axe multiple times. Move away, or dodge or parry to attack back. |
Enlarge Electric Dash and Slice |
He raises his axe to summon lightning, and dashes to you. He may slash once or multiple times, and the slashes have lightning. Move away, or dodge or parry to attack back. |
Enlarge Laser |
Like Guardians, he will prepare a laser that follows you. You can hide behind pillars around the map, or jump away in time. |
During the start of the second phase, equip your Magnesis as soon as possible, and keep close distance to Thunderblight Ganon. When he drops the pillars, it will be easy to drag one to him if you are near.
