This is a guide to the Master Kohga boss fight in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (BotW).
List of Contents
Master Kohga has three attack strategies depending on the percentage of his health. After depleting his HP by 1/3, he will move on to the next attack phase.
Enlarge Forcefield |
Master Kohga has a forcefield in front of him, blocking your attacks. Wait for him to do the next action for him the forcefield to disappear. |
Enlarge Summon Rock |
The forcefield disappears, and he raises his arms to summon a rock to throw at your direction. Shoot at his face when he summons a rock, causing it to fall on him. |
Although this fight will mostly have you use your bow, it is best to keep a short distance with Kohga so you have more time to deal melee damage when he is knocked down.
Enlarge Summon Two Rocks |
He will summon two rocks, and throw them one by one at your direction. Run to the side to dodge them. |
You cannot shoot Kohga when he is summoning the rocks. However, when he is controlling them to revolve around him, the forcefield will be gone. Shoot him in the face when a rocks is just above his head.
Enlarge Summon Metal Spikeball |
He will summon a metal spikeball, and will drag it to you using his own Magnesis. Counter it with your Magnesis, and drop it over to his head. |

The Leader of the Yiga Clan, a group formed with just a single objective: eliminate Link. He sends his minions all over Hyrule in search of you but tends to spend most of his own time napping and generally loafing about. Despite this, his mastery of the esoteric arts has earned him a deep respect. Even if he were to die, his followers would never give up their one and only task. |
Master Kohga is the boss of the Yiga Clan Hideout, found in the Wasteland Tower Region and part of the Divine Beast Vah Naboris main quest. Check below for a full guide on how to find and clear the hideout, as well as a list of other treasures available in it!
