Similar to other Boss Monsters, Deader Tree can only be tamed by giving it one of its preferred items. Both Greenifier+ and Formula C can be crafted or bought from Ludmila's Flower Shop, so it is recommended to use these items to tame Deader Tree. Note that if you do not tame Deader Tree within 10 attempts you will have to reload your save file or try again on another day.
You can use your brush to increase the probability of taming Deader Tree. You can brush a monster up to 15 times, so if you're having a difficult time taming monsters, this option can be useful!
