1. Enter the Ladder of Thought Shrine

To reach the puzzle for the Ladder of Thought, take the elevator down and use the Fire Shot to burn away the webs in your path.

How to Unlock Fire Shot

2. Defeat the Enemy Swarm

Once you reach a large room with glowing pedestals, you will encounter a swarm of enemies. Take them out so you can complete the puzzle without interference.

Once all enemies have been dealt with, use the Fire Shot once again to burn the webs off of the pedestal on the right.

3. Raise the Pedestals One at a Time

Ladder of Thought Solution

To solve the puzzle, stand on one pedestal, and then raise the other one you didn't stand on to a higher level using the Psychic Glove. Make sure that Samus can still jump to the raised pedestal from her current one.

Jump to the higher pedestal, then raise the other pedestal to an even higher level (that Samus can still jump to). Hop onto that pedestal, then repeat the process until you reach the platform at the top. Burn the webs off the door and go through for your reward.

The Ladder of Thought can be found in the western part of Sol Valley, close to the rocky walls of the area. You will need the Fire Shot to progress further into the shrine.

Upgrades the Fire Shot

Fire Shot Upgrade

Clearing the Ladder of Thought puzzle grants an upgrade to the Fire Shot. Initially, you will acquire the Charged Fire Shot, but if you've completed the Rings of Stone shrine, you will instead get the Super Fire Shot.
