Carvex's main weakness are the nodes close to the tips of its tendrils. These nodes are protected by a layer of outer armor, which must be destroyed to damage the node directly.
Carvex initially only has one tendril, but can gain up to three during the fight. You will need to break the armor on all tendril nodes first to expose each one, then use a Charge Beam to simultaneously destroy all nodes.
Once you've destroyed all the tendrils and their nodes, the boss will expose its main body for you to attack. Try to keep your distance as you do, since Carvex will continuously send out thorns through the ground.
Being further away from Carvex will give you more time to react and move away from the thorns while attacking.
The boss can raise then slam its tendrils down on Samus, and can also drag them along the ground to sweep at her. Pay attention to how the tendrils are moving, then dash away or jump over them to avoid damage.
Carvex can summon flying enemies to slowly move towards Samus during the fight. These can be destroyed to negate this attack entirely.
