How Difficult are Nightmare and Inferno Mode

Nightmare Difficulty

This game mode is for experienced players who understands the flow of the game and are looking for more of a challenge.

  • Enemies behave more aggressively.
  • Enemy attacks are much stronger.
  • Enemies and items appear in different locations.

Aggressive Enemies

Enemies are more agressive and they will follow you a lot quicker than usual, making the story more difficult to progress.

Enemy Attacks

Enemy attacks are now much stronger than before and it is now harder to break off their attacks. Some enemies can instantly put you into Danger status from Fine with a single hit.

Enemies and Item Locations

Enemies and items will now spawn in different locations, making the game more unpredictable. Also, more enemies will now spawn in certain locations. Be sure to keep this in mind when playing on this difficulty, because some enemies are hiding and waiting around corners.
Unlocking Nightmare Difficulty

Inferno Difficulty

This game mode is for players who truly crave a challenge that can test their mastery of the game.

  • Enemies are even stronger than in Nightmare mode.
  • Fewer Typewriters and Item Boxes can be found.
  • Autosave is disabled.

Autosave Disabled

Autosaves are now disabled while progressing in the story. Usually there is an autosave feature that works as a checkpoint at various points in the game. This feature is now disabled and you will have to load your game from the last manual save you made if you die.

Fewer Typewriters and Item Boxes

You will see less Typewriters and Item Boxes scattered throughout the game, this makes the game a lot more difficult because you will not be able to save as much and you will have less items while progressing the story.

Stronger Enemies

Enemies that you will encounter are now even stronger and tougher. Enemies will now have a lot more health and the ability to kill you with a single attack. Keep in mind that playing on this difficulty also makes the enemies you encounter as agressive as they are on Nightmare Mode.

Defense Coins

Defense Coin.jpg
Defense Coins greatly increases your chance of surviving enemy attacks. These coins can make you a lot tougher than usual and you will be able to take more hits before hitting Danger status. You can purchase these coins from the Shop on the Main Menu.

Field Manual and Dodging

Field Manual.jpg
Dodging is the best way to defend youself from enemy attacks since it can prevent all damage. Practice performing Perfect Dodges to constantly execute them properly. Also, purchase the Field Manual from the shop. This increases your dodge window, making it easier to evade enemy attacks.
