If you have a weapon equipped you can aim your weapon by pressing the L2 Button. While holding the L2 Button, a large crosshair will appear at the center of the sceen that will grow smaller overtime. This means that your bullets will land somewhere inside the large crosshair and is not guaranteed to hit the center.

Holding the L2 Button without moving or firing a shot will make the crosshair smaller and a small dot at the center will appear. This will guarantee that you will land your shot at the center of the crosshair. Try not to panic and keep this in mind whenever you are using your weapon to conserve your ammo.
