How to Get Weapons

Choice Engrams

Engrams

Choice Engrams allow players to choose from a pool of weapons once opened.

These allow players to choose a Weapon that they want or need, which is especially useful when obtaining a new character with different weapon preferences.

Chapter and Milestone Rewards

Quest Reward

You can also obtain Weapons as Chapter Rewards or as Milestone Rewards.

Do note that not all Quest Rewards and Milestone Rewards contain Weapons, and are usually rewarded once every few milestones.

Daily Raids and Strikes

Strikes

Daily Raids and Strikes are also a great way to farm for weapons, rewarding Legendary Weapons for the normal difficulty stages.

Heroic Difficulties can reward Mythic Weapons and Mythic Weapon Parameters, which are used to create Mythic Weapon Engrams.

How to Equip Weapons

Inventory

Weapons can be equipped to your characters from the Character Menu.

Keep in mind that each character has their own weapon preference, and you can only equip weapon types that are compatible with that specific character.

What are Weapons?

Main Damage Source

Weapons are your character's main damage source in Destiny: Rising. While your characters can also deal damage through the use of abilities, your Primary Weapon will be the main tool you use when you are fighting.

Primary Weapons Have Infinite Ammo

Primary Weapons, which are the first Weapon Slot for your characters have infinite ammo, which means you can endlessly fire rounds at enemies, only staggered by reload times.

Heavy Weapons, on the other hand, which are equipped as your Secondary require ammo pickups, and can only be fired a limited number of times before needing to find additional ammo.

Traits and Perks Affect Weapon Performance

Perks

Traits and Perks also affect your weapon's performance and damage, with more boosts as you raise its levels.

Different Perks can accomodate different types of playstyles, so make sure to consider Perks & Traits as well when equipping weapons for your characters.

Equip Weapon Mods to Improve or Modify Weapons

Weapon Mods can also be equipped to your weapons to upgrade them or modify it to a more specific playstyle.

Weapon Mods have different effects, and optimizing your builds with Weapon Mods can result in higher DPS, or more optimized playstyles.
