Unlike most other Supports, Umeko inherently does a ton of damage thanks to her debuff. Because of this, you can opt to forego some survivability and spec into more damage instead, as long as you can hit headshots.

However, if you can't consistently land sniper headshots, then it's better to use a build that improves your heals so that your team can stay alive and you can apply more debuffs for them.

Umeko's role in PvE game modes is to apply her unique debuff three times so that enemies take extra damage from all sources. Also, as a note, her healing capabilities aren't as good as other Supports, so it's recommended to focus on her ability casts and gun damage instead.

・Requires consistent precision final blows to maximize potential.
・Slower reload speed than most other Sniper Rifles.

・High damage potential, but needs good aim.
・Element swapping isn't as useful in PvP.

・Make sure not to preemptively reload so that you can utilize its Intrinsic Trait.
・Needs good Traits to maximize potential.

Unless you're a skilled player, Umeko's weapons can be hard to use in PvP since you'll need to land headshots to maximize your damage output. It's recommended to use the Izanagi's Burden because it has strong one-tap potential, but you can use the Polaris Lance instead if you're more comfortable with that Exotic.

・Low Range isn't as punishing in PvE, but can still be annoying.
・Requires a good build to compete with other Scout Rifles.

Borealis Borealis ・Amazing at destroying any elemental shield thanks to its passives.
・Breaking shields reloads the weapon and grants a damage boost.
・Having the Borealis Catalyst upgrade makes this amazing versus bosses.
Alternate Options
Izanagi Izanagi's Burden ・Aim for Precision shots to maximize damage bonuses.
・Having the Catalyst Band 02 upgrade makes this amazing versus bosses.
・Make sure to check which Catalyst upgrades you have since it changes how you want to reload this weapon.
40000 Sidereal Year 40000 Sidereal Year ・Aim to activate the Rate of Fire buff to increase DPS.
・Make sure not to preemptively reload so that you can utilize its Intrinsic Trait.
・Needs good Traits to maximize potential.

Borealis is one of the best weapons in PvE since you can destroy any elemental shield, thus allowing your team to be more flexible with their picks. However, if your team has all the necessary elements covered, it's better to go for Izanagi's Burden instead because of its raw damage output.

In PvP game modes, it's recommended to build an Artifact set that revolves around increasing the damage of precision shots so that you can quickly take down tougher foes. However, if you find yourself dying often, then you can opt for an Ability-focused set that balances survival and damage output to help you cast shurikens.

Also, as a note, if your team doesn't have that many healers, then you can opt for a Healing Artifact set instead to help your allies stay alive.
