Since Wolf's kit is more melee-focused, outside of their Signature 1, it's recommended to use a build that focuses on weapon damage instead. Just remember to still use abilities now and then so that you can gain overshields to keep yourself alive.

Wolf's PvE builds are pretty flexible, but it's generally recommended to use an ability-focused build that excels at executing enemies. However, it's still viable to use a more overshield or weapon-centric build if you wish.

・Outside of damage and mag size, stats are worse until the weapons fully spun up.

Satiyaaliksni Smart Bomb Satiyaaliksni Smart Bomb ・AoE shots makes it easy to land guaranteed damage.
・Gets a free Catalyst upgrade from the main story.
・Often upgraded since it's a free Exotic that Wolf wants to use for story quests.
Alternate Options
HON1 Khanom Khrok HON1 Khanom Khrok ・Well balanced weapon that's easy to use.
・Effective range buff isn't that useful on grenade launchers.
・Needs good Traits to maximize potential.

Since most of Wolf's abilities are melee, you will mostly be reliant on the Smart Bomb's Super Grenades to deal damage. This means that you will also want a reliable Primary, like the Sworn Oath, in case Wolf's Super isn't charged up or you run out of Heavy Ammo.

・Gets a free Catalyst upgrade from the main story.
・Often upgraded since it's a free Exotic that Wolf wants to use for story quests.

HON1 Khanom Khrok HON1 Khanom Khrok ・Well balanced weapon that's easy to use.
・Effective range buff isn't that useful on grenade launchers.
・Culture Clash's Perk Upgrade is very useful against scenarios with Fallen or Cabal enemies.

Even though Wolf can clear out waves of enemies with chained Signature 2 skills, they have access to some powerful weapons as well. The most notable one is the Smart Bomb since it essentially has infinite ammo and can deal a ton of damage with high-powered Super Grenades.

In PvP game modes, Wolf will want to focus on improving the damage of Smart Bomb's Super Grenades as much as possible. It can be harder to utilize their more melee-centric abilities against good players, so it's recommended to build around weapon damage instead.

Also, as a note, it may be hard to utilize Explosive Shell if you don't have the best aim or if you're against good players and/or mobile characters.

Wolf PvE builds are pretty flexible, but it's generally recommended to run an ability-focused build so that you can execute enemies and constantly gain overshield. However, you can also opt for a more balanced build, or even a weapon-centric build that focuses on Smart Bomb's Super Grenades, if you prefer.

UmekoUmeko ・ Applies a powerful debuff that makes it easier to execute enemies.
・ Can also heal Wolf to help keep them alive.
・ Sniper shots can easily finish off enemies that Wolf doesn't or can't execute.
IkoraIkora ・ Can group up enemies, making it easier for Wolf to land their attacks.
・ Provides consistent AoE chip damage that can help with Wolf getting Signature 2 resets.
・ Might index too heavily into AoE splash damage, depending on the rest of the team.

These are some of the characters that pair well with Wolf in PvP game modes. However, as a note, they're good specifically with Wolf, and other characters may be better teammates depending on who else is on the team.
