| Status | Changed Effects |
|---|---|
| Paralysis | Previous Effect: Pokemon have a 25% chance to be unable to move for a turn. Halves speed. New Effect: Pokemon have a 12.5% chance to be unable to move for a turn. Halves speed. |
| Freeze | Previous Effect: Pokemon have a 25% chance to thaw when they move each turn. Can be thawed immediately by certain Fire-type moves. New Effect: Pokemon have a 25% chance to thaw when they move each turn but will be guaranteed to thaw by the 3rd turn. Can be thawed immediately by certain Fire-type moves. |
| Sleep (from Rest) | Previous Effect: Fully restores HP and puts the Pokemon to sleep for 2 turns. New Effect: Fully restores HP and puts the Pokemon to sleep for 3 turns. |
Some status conditions have undergone changes in Pokemon Champions—the most significant of which is the Freeze status condition. In previous games, a Pokemon could remain frozen for the entirety of the battle, but now it is guaranteed to thaw out by the third turn, similar to the Sleep status effect.
| Mechanic | Changed Effects |

| Battle Time Ends (Sudden Death) | Previous Effect: If both players have the same number of Pokemon once the timer ends, the player with the highest percentage of total remaining HP wins. New Effect: The battle ends in a draw if both players have the same number of Pokemon at the end of the battle. |
If a match goes to timer, the game now only considers the number of remaining Pokemon for each trainer to determine the winner. The remaining HP for each Pokemon is no longer considered.
