| Shadow Tag | The Pokémon steps on the opposing Pokémon's shadows to prevent them from fleeing or switching out. | ||||||||
Mega Gengar is one of the strongest special attackers thanks to its ability Shadow Tag, which prevents opponents from switching out. This allows it to trap and eliminate key threats once it gets a favorable matchup.
With high Special Attack and Speed, it can quickly pressure opponents, while moves like Perish Song and Will-O-Wisp give it strong utility options. It’s especially effective at disrupting teams and forcing trades in your favor.

Mega Greninja excels as a fast, offensive attacker that can pressure a wide range of opponents. Its high Speed allows it to strike first in most matchups, making it a strong choice against frailer targets.
It also has great coverage, letting it deal with threats like Mega Gengar and Mega Delphox. Because of this flexibility, it is considered a strong pick in the current meta.

Mega Delphox is a powerful special attacker with extremely high Special Attack and Speed. It can outspeed threats like Mega Gengar and hit them with super effective moves like Psychic.
However, it is quite fragile on the physical side, so proper positioning is important. When used correctly, it can dominate special-based matchups and quickly overwhelm opponents.

You can also get Mega Stones from finishing the Mega Evolution tutorial from the Training Menu. Once done, you'll receive plenty Mega Stones for your Pokemon.
Certain Mega Stones, such as Greninjaite, can be obtained through link bonuses. By transferring Pokemon from Pokemon Z-A via Pokemon HOME and sending them on expeditions, you can receive rewards in Pokemon Champions.
Be sure to check your mailbox to claim these bonuses.
How to Transfer Pokemon Using Pokemon HOME

To Mega Evolve a Pokemon, you need an Omni Ring and the corresponding Mega Stone for that Pokemon. Each Pokemon requires its own specific Mega Stone to Mega Evolve.

During battle, you can activate Mega Evolution by pressing the Mega Evolution button. Keep in mind that you can only Mega Evolve one Pokemon per match, and once a Pokemon Mega Evolves, it will remain in its Mega form for the rest of the battle even if it is switched out and returned later.
Timing your Mega Evolution carefully is key, as it can dramatically change the flow of a match.
