Mega Delphox gains a massive boost to SpA and Spe when Mega Evolving, making it a powerful glass cannon. If it manages to set up Nasty Plot, it can become very difficult to stop, as its special attacks become extremely strong.
Delphox changes its ability to Levitate upon Mega Evolving. This removes its Ground weakness, forcing opponents to rely on other types it is weak to, such as Water, Rock, Dark, and Ghost.

This Mega Delphox build takes advantage of its major SpA boost, allowing it to deal powerful attacks. It also prioritizes Speed to guarantee it moves first.
| Stats | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Timid Nature 2 HP / 32 SpA / 32 Spe |
Speed is a valuable stat for Mega Delphox, so keeping it Timid is fine, especially if you want to commit to this build. |
| Ability | Explanation |
|
Levitate Levitate By floating in the air, the Pokémon receives full immunity to all Ground-type moves.
|
Gives full immunity to Ground-type attacks, effectively removing one of its weaknesses. |
| Moves | Explanation |
|
Substitute |
Provides extra survivability, and if left intact, it allows Mega Delphox to set up a free Nasty Plot without taking damage. |
|
Shadow Ball |
A great move to carry when facing Ghost-types, providing better type coverage. |
|
Hypnosis |
Good to use to gain an extra free turn to set up Nasty Plot, though it is quite risky due to its accuracy. |
This build focuses more on giving Mega Delphox survivability. Substitute and Hypnosis can help with setting up Nasty Plot, while Shadow Ball serves as an alternative offensive option.
| Counter | Pokemon | Info |
|---|---|
| Use Offensive Priority Moves | One way to counter Mega Delphox and its Speed is to use priority moves. Moves like Sucker Punch and Accelerock are great options, as they not only have priority but also target Mega Delphox’s weakness. Recommended Pokémon for these are Meowscarada, Weavile, and Dusk Form Lycanroc. |
| Reverse Speed Priority with Trick Room | Mega Delphox excels as an offensive unit due to its Speed. Reversing Speed priority with Trick Room gives it a disadvantage, allowing slow but offensive Pokemon like Hatterene and Farigiraf to take control of the offense. |
Mega Delphox will ultimately struggle against Pokemon with priority moves, as they are a sure way to bypass its Speed advantage. If Trick Room is also active, its Speed buff becomes useless, leaving it vulnerable to being hit first by powerful attacks.
| Counter | Pokemon | Info |
|---|---|
| Use Sucker Punch or Accelerock | A good way to pressure Mega Delphox is to use priority moves that target its weakness. Weavile is one of the best Pokémon to use, as it can use Fake Out, then Sucker Punch to defeat Mega Delphox. Meowscarada is also a good alternative, since it can adapt Sucker Punch’s Dark typing with Protean. Accelerock is another option, which is available to Dusk Form Lycanroc. |
| Use Trick Room to Reverse Speed Priority | Another way to counter Mega Delphox is to use Trick Room to change the Speed priority. Hatterene is the best option for this, as it can turn things around and become the offensive threat. Other options are Farigiraf if the opposing Mega Delphox carries Shadow Ball, and Chandelure to absorb its Fire-type attacks with Flash Fire. |
As mentioned in the first build, Mega Delphox can easily be defeated by using priority moves it is weak to, preferably physical ones. Anything that stops it from utilizing its Speed, such as Trick Room, will also help.
| General Support | Main Offense | Secondary Offense |
|---|---|---|
Orthworm
|
Mega Delphox
|
Azumarill
|
Lead with Orthworm and either set up Stealth Rock or go straight for Shed Tail. This gives Mega Delphox a free Substitute and an opportunity to use Nasty Plot.
If Mega Delphox eventually falls in battle, Azumarill can finish the match if you are able to pull off the Belly Drum and Aqua Jet combo.
