The trailer from the Pokemon Presents livestream last aired on February 27, 2025 shows a double battle sequence. It is likely that single battles are included as a match type as the game plans to bring familiar battle-centric mechanics.

Mega Evolutions

Mega Evolutions

Mega Evolutions, a feature not seen since Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, make its reapperance in Pokemon Champions. As seen in the trailer, the trainer's Charizard mega evolves into Mega Charizard X.

Terastallized Pokemon

Terastallized Pokemon

In addition to Mega Evolutions, Terastallized Pokemon also appear in Pokemon Champions. The trailer shows the other trainer's Dondozo terastallizing just after the Charizard mega evolves.
