Incineroar is the King of VGC
because no other Pokemon boasts as many game-defining tools into a single slot while remaining consistently reliable. Its Intimidate Ability weakens Physical Attackers when it enters, immediately giving a player momentum, and its moveset provides guaranteed disruption that can often decide games.
VGC relies heavily on tempo, positioning, and control rather than raw damage. Incineroar excels at providing all of three. This Pokemon can fit in almost any team archetype such as Balance, Stall, Trick Room, Sun, or even occasionally Rain, making it an easy, high-impact inclusion in any team composition.

A standard Incineroar will have all the best support options available. Flare Blitz is its main damaging move for when it needs to deal damage. The rest of its moves are utility options. Fake Out is a necessary inclusion, with the other two moves being interchangeable for whichever the team needs.

| Adamant Nature HP 32 / Atk 32 |
A more offensively focused Incineroar could be useful in Pokemon Champions's early format. |
| Ability | Explanation |
|
Intimidate Intimidate When the Pokémon enters a battle, it lowers the Attack stats of opponents by 1 stage.
|
Intimidate is Incineroar's best Ability as Blaze simply does not compare. |
A max Attack Incineroar could catch opponents off guard, especially with the prevalence of Steel and Grass-types in the early Champions metagame. While this may be a fun gimmick, it is still recommended to build Incineroar with a more defensive playstyle in mind.
| Counter | Pokemon | Info |
|---|---|
| Use Defiant or Competitive Pokemon. | Pokemon who are able to benefit off Intimidate can find themselves in a strong position in a match. |
| Clear Body and White Herb. | Having access having options that negate stat drops are useful against Incineroar. |
Pokemon who can benefit or shrug off Intimidate are great against Incineroar. Milotic and Kingambit are great examples of this thanks to their Competitive and Defiant Abilities respectively.
Clear Body Dragapult is also a good option against Incineroar because of its immunity to Fake Out. Sneasler has access to an even faster Fake Out, and Close Combat that can put Incineroar into 2HKO range.

Incineroar fits nicely into standard Balance Teams because it is able to fulfil multiple roles within it. It can debuff opponents with Intimidate and Parting Shot, allowing for its bulkier teammates to survive longer.
A Ghost-type teammate is also great to have, as it can switch into incoming Fighting-type Attacks aimed at Incineroar.
