List of Contents
Three medallions. Three nu mou. Vaan and his party encounters these nu mou sages throughout the lands of Ivalice, and helps them in their task. Through Vaan's help, they discover that he may just be the foretold bearer of the medallions that they have been searching for.
To jumpstart these series of events, you'll have to speak with a nu mou named Ma'kleou. You'll meet him at the Muted Scarp area in the Nabreus Deadlands. He'll be telling you of the tale of the Medallions as well as his acolytes, Roh'kenmou and Roh'kenmu, who he sent after these medallions.
The nu mou Roh'kenmou will be first up your list. This lengthy quest of his involves finding items as they are moved around by people and are hidden in places you least expect. You will find Roh'kenmou speaking with Dalan, asking about the three pieces of the first medallion: the Dull Fragment, the Blackened Fragment, and the Grimy Fragment.
The fragments of the medallion will also require you to finish three hunts first to make the Waterways available. You need to finish the hunt for the Wraith first. To know more about the hunt, visit the link below.

After this hunt, you'll have to face off against the White Mousse. The details of this hunt are as seen below.
How to Defeat White Mousse - Hunts
Finally, you'll have to help the Contrite Thief get her goods back. More details about this hunt are seen below.
1 | Take a look at the house in Lowtown with the seeq child for a Dusty Letter. |
---|---|
2 | The Dusty Letter has clues on how to operate the Sluice Gates. Another medallion piece lies in these sewers. |
3 | It will be easy to open the three gates when you've finished the other quests. |
4 | Opening it by order, you should turn them on like so: No.11 Waterway - on No.4 Waterway - on No.11 Waterway - off No.3 Waterway - on No.4 Waterway - off |
5 | Head to the Central Waterway Control afterwards. Pick up the Shiny Object sitting on the ground, the Dull Fragment. |
You will remember this seeq child as the one hiding in the abandoned house. He and his father have since moved in, and there will be a 'Dusty Letter' left behind by the previous owner of the house. The Letter will have information on it about the Dull Fragment and how the Waterway Sluice Gates need to be opened in order to get this medallion piece.
Go to the Waterways after reading the letter and operate the gates as instructed above. The Dull Fragment will be sitting in plain sight after opening the right set of gates.
The Blackened Fragment will be easy to find. It is one of the quest rewards when you finish the quest Crime and Punishment. It will be given to you by Samal after you recover his stolen goods from the Orthros.
6 | The third piece of the medallion is part of a smaller quest involving Filo, an Imperial, and a woman with no memory. |
---|---|
7 | Speak with Filo first. She will be found in the southeastern corner of the Lowtown. |
8 | Head to the Rabanastre Southern Plaza. Search for the Curious Woman. |
9 | Travel to the Muthru Bazaar and speak with the Bangaa Merchant about the necklace. He will send you to the Imperial at Yugri's Magicks. |
10 | Speak with the Sotted Imperial at the Magick shop. He will ask you to bring the woman who forgot her memory. |
11 | Kytes will speak with you and tell you good news and bad news. He'll tell you about the woman, and that Filo has some bad luck as well. |
12 | Filo will tell you that they found the woman and will ask if you want to bring her along to Old Archades. Say yes. |
13 | In the shop, the woman will part with the Grimy Fragment. Return to Dalan's place and the nu mou. |
The Grimy Fragment, however, won't just be sitting in plain sight. The fragment requires a little more sleuthing on your part. Start by speaking with Filo, who happens to be one of Vaan's 'underground contacts' living in Lowtown. She'll tell you of a medallion, missing since who knows when, that used to belong to a sky pirate.
Filo will then send you to the direction of the Curious Woman, who is also searching for the missing fragment. To compound things further, however, she will be without a memory of who she is. The only thing she remembers is selling it to a bangaa at the Muthru Bazaar.
Once you're at the Bazaar, speak to the bangaa merchant here. He will then tell you that an Imperial had come asking about it, and that this Imperial is staying over at Yugri's Magicks. You'll know what to do.
You will recognize this Imperial as the one who drank his time away at the Sandsea. The Imperial acts like an Imperial should--haughty and with threats. He will then ask you to show where you met the woman or suffer the consequences of lying.
You'll find this woman by speaking with Kytes, who'll also tell you of a problem Filo has run into. Return with Filo to find her holding the woman for you. Offer to bring the woman back into the Magicks shop to meet up with the Imperial.
When you bring this woman to the Magick shop, the Imperial and her will immediately trigger a cutscene, revealing their identities as brother and sister. This wild goose chase done, the sister will also give you the Grimy Fragment, completing it for your return to Roh'kenmou.
Roh'kenmou combines the fragments into the Medallion of Bravery and recognizes you as the new bearer of the Medallion.
14 | Travel next to Old Archades for the next medallion. Enter Charlotte's Magicks shop. |
---|---|
15 | Speak with another nu mou once again. Roh'kenmu will send you to Otto to retrieve the medallion he sold. |
16 | Otto will be at the Alley of Muted Sighs. If this is the first time you met him, he will be designated 'Proper Gent.' |
17 | This gentleman has a ring made of pure Moonsilver. However, he will return the medallion when asked. |
18 | Give it to Roh'kenmu. He will say that, despite the missing chunk, the medallion has gotten 'stronger.' |
Once you've gained the recognition of Roh'kenmou, you'll be saying goodbye to Rabanastre and head over to Archades for the second Medallion. This will set you up on a meeting with another nu mou acolyte named Roh'kenmu. He'll reveal that he lost the Medallion when he sold it to a man named Otto.
When you find Otto, it will be revealed that he used the sold moonsilver medallion to create a wedding band of moonsilver to give to his love. He will return the moonsilver medallion with the chunk used for the wedding band missing.
Return to Roh'kenmu with what's remaining of the medallion. When you show it to him, he will acknowledge that there is a chunk missing indeed. However, he will note that, despite its appearance, it somehow 'feels' more whole that it was before.
He will give you the medallion, as well as acknowledge what Roh'kenmou said the first time--you might just be the medallion's true bearer.
19 | The third medallion--and the last one--will be in the Nabreus Deadlands. Speak with Ma'kleou and you'll see Roh'kenmou and Roh'kenmu with him. |
---|---|
20 | Head to the area known as Overlooking Eternity. This is the place with many skeletons as well as that area with Roblon. |
21 | Once you get past the skeletons, speak with the nu mou at the shrine. They will bestow the three medallions to you as the new medallion bearer. |
22 | Before disappearing, they will task you with the vanquishing of the Humbaba Mistant and the Fury, as well as the defeat of the Esper, Chaos. |
Once you've completed the first two medallion's quests, head back to Ma'kleou. He will tell of the hero who was prophesised. He will say that this hero will vanquish the beasts they sealed within the Necrohol, one of which is an optional Esper, Chaos. For more information about this Esper, see the link below.
You will have to go to the area known as Overlooking Eternity in the Nabreus Deadlands. This area should be familiar if you've completed the quest for the Roblon. It is also an area that spawns many Dead Bones. You could clear them or not before heading to talk to Ma'kleou, who will be recognizing the Medallions of Bravery and Love. He will then tell you to claim the Medallion of Might.
After telling you to slay the three beasts--the Humbaba Mistant, the Fury, and Chaos--they will also tell you to do this in their memory. It is then revealed that these three were mages in Nabudis, who died, perhaps, upon sealing the three fell beasts.
The Humbaba Mistant is waiting at the Necrohol of Nabudis. To know more about it, visit this link.
