How to Find the Earth Tyrant

This is the article page for the Earth Tyrant Extermination miscellaneous quest of the game Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age (FFXII, FF12, FF XII Zodiac Age). Item locations, tasks that need doing, and other important aspects of the side mission are available here.

Earth Tyrant Extermination Objectives

The Earth Tyrant Extermination quest is quite a lengthy one, and one that you should not do unless you're truly confident of your character's levels. This mission involves a few characters, as well as an artifact, and your quarry. You will also receive recognition from Montblanc through some items he gives you upon finishing off the mini-boss.

Rimzat, The Imperial Researcher

Rimzat is a bangaa researcher for the Imperial Academy, looking for a way to get into the raging sandstorm that's occurring at the Westersand's northern entrance into the Estersand. He'll be asking you for help. Agree to help him to start the hunt for the Earth Tyrant.

Cotze, A Firebrand Rabanastran

Rimzat will be leading you to Cotze, who is hanging around by the Central area. He'll be expressing his distaste for the Imperial scholar while at the same time sending you to his friend, Northon, who is hanging out in the Lowtown. Proceed to the other Rabanastran.

Northon, Cotze, and the Windvane

Northon will tell you of the windvane, an artifact that helped him and Cotze go in and out of the Wyrm's Nest. He will also tell you that they split it between them. Northon will tell you where he hid his piece of the windvane in order for you to complete the item.

The Search for the Wind Globe

Dynast-cactuses are large, robust cacti which sometimes have blossoms on them. You'll find Northon's piece of the windvane under the dynast-cactus left of the area's entrance. Once you have dug out the missing piece, head back to Rabanastre for the other piece.

The Final Piece

When you return, you'll see the two men and the bangaa talking. You'll also hear that Rimzat was let go from his job at the Academy. When you show the Wind Globe piece to Northon, Cotze will lend you his piece of the artifact, completing the windvane. While the two humes warn you of the perils awaiting within the Wyrm's Nest area, Rimzat will instead let you have the windvane and wish you luck.

Earth Tyrant Exterminated

When you arrive at the area, the Earth Tyrant will immediately appear and attack you. While fighting the Earth Tyrant, keep your party's health up by healing. You should also be around Lv.30 and up if you want to have an easier time with the mini-boss. For more information on this fight, click on the link below.

How to Beat Earth Tyrant

Either way, after you've defeated the Earth Tyrant, return to Rabanastre. Report your success to Montblanc and he'll be giving you items as reward for your deed.
