EnlargeSome 'shady bangaas' will give you the quest from the Phon Coast. It becomes available after you defeat the Mandragora Royals at the Sochen Cave Palace. It would be best for your party to finish all other quests before undertaking this one--it involves scouring the whole of Ivalice in-game for some of the most elusive marks that hunters rarely see.

| 2 | Speak to the Shady Bangaas' leader. He will say that he's considering you for mission with their super-secret Hunters' Club. |
The Shady Bangaas' leader turns out to be the Huntmaster, head of the secret group of Phon Coast hunters. He will recognize you after you dispatch of the Sochen Cave Palace Mandragoras, but will put you to the test of hunting a mutant strain of emeralditan.

| 4 | Head to the Phon Coast, Vaddu Strand to open the quest. Seek the highest point of the area. |
| 5 | After ten seconds, the Thalassinon will show itself. Go down and slay the emeralditan. |
Once you receive the quest to hunt the Thalassinon, go to the Vaddu Strand area of the Phon Coast. Find the highest point in the area, as advised by the Huntmaster, and wait for the Thalassinon to show itself. Once it appears in your view, you know what to do: it's time to hunt.

When you slay the Thalassinon, you'll receive the Shelled Trophy as reward. As instructed, return to the Huntmaster to prove that you've defeated the rare emeralditan. Doing so will make him recognize you even more as a worthy hunter, and welcome you into the club.

After you've received recognition, you will be instructed to hunt rare marks all over Ivalice. You'll have to present trophies to either of the three brothers Atak, Blok, or Stok. Depending on these trophies, you'll receive different items from the Outfitter. You'll recognize him from his former monicker, 'Shifty-Eyed Man'.
