EnlargeThe Balfonheim Footrace happens before you complete the hunt for the Pylraster and after the Bahamut is awakened. When you ask Rikken for information about the hunt, he will challenge you to the first of many races. The prizes aren't that great, so don't get your hopes up; however, it makes for a great pastime when you need to unwind from the different missions and tasks you have to finish.

| 2 | Race against Rikken, Elza, and Raz. The first time you win, you'll receive a Potion x1 from Rikken. |
Rikken, the petitioner for the Pylraster hunt, will ask you to race before he completes giving you details of the hunt. Win the first race to receive some items from him, as well as more information about the Pylraster hunt.

| 3 | Return after the Pylraster hunt to earn your reward. From then on, you can challenge him again. |

After besting the Pylraster, return to Rikken. He will grudgingly acknowledge the fact that you may just be the strongest in the land. However, his repetitive manner of asking you for 'a bit of sport' will show you that he thinks he still has an edge over you...when it comes to speed, that is.

From then on, you'll be able to ask Rikken for a race again and again. Return to him to start the race over and over. The prizes will get better as long as you keep coming out on top every time you run.
