This is a guide to amiibo compatibility, and support in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity for the Nintendo Switch. Read on to learn the game's amiibo functionality and see what rewards you can get from scanning them!
List of Contents
All amiibos, including non-Zelda themed amiibo, can be used to claim rewards in the game. Each amiibo can only be scanned once and total of five amiibos can be scanned once per day.
1 | Select amiibo on the Title Screen |
---|---|
2 | Tap the amiibo on the NFC Touchpoint to scan it |
3 | Collect rewards |
On the title screen, select amiibo to start scanning.
On this screen, tap the amiibo on the NFC Touchpoint. If you are using Joy-Con controllers, you can tap it on the right Joy-Con controller.
After successfully scanning an amiibo, you'll receive either a weapon or an assortment of materials.
You can receive random weapons or materials from scanning amiibos.
Note that unlike Breath of the Wild, where Zelda-themed amiibos would occasionally drop exclusive weapons or armor, amiibos in Age of Calamity do not have exclusive weapons or outfits associated with scanning them. However, since the materials and weapons are useful for both weapon fusing and Quests, it's a good idea to scan five daily to farm them!
If you close the game after scanning and before playing, and then the date you were playing changes, you will receive a prompt reminder that the rewards have not yet collected from the previous scan. Select Yes to keep all the rewards received.
After collecting your new gear, you can return to the menu screen and scan again!
You can collect scanned weapons and materials from amiibos and sell them for easy money. If you have reached the five amiibo daily limit, you can change the date to continue scanning for materials and weapons.
Some of the amiibo drops include weapons with seals that can be useful for fusing and upgrading weapons.
Weapon Fusion Guide: How to Transfer Weapon Skills
Scanning amiibos usually drops materials in large quantities that can be used to unlock Quests or cook food before a battle or challenge.
It was confirmed via a tweet through Nintendo of America that the amiibo of the four playable Champions would be re-released alongside with Age of Calamity on 11/20. As these were quite popular during their inital run, be sure to get yours while supplies last!

Age of Calamity Tips and Tricks
Not random. My SSB Zelda Amiibo can drop materials, but if she does drop a weapon, it *always* is a Zelda weapon (almost always a slate weapon, and most of those time a WEAK slate weapon, but I did get one Bow of Light this way way before I unlocked it in-game).
