How to Change Characters

This is a guide to changing characters in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (HW:AoC) for the Nintendo Switch. Learn how to change characters before taking on a battle and while on the battlefield below!

How to Change Characters

Select Party

Choose a battle you wish to embark on and select Party from the menu. Take note that there are battles with character restrictions or party size limit.

Choose Which Character to Change

Select the character's portrait to change the party lineup. This takes you to another screen which allows you to swap the chosen character with another one.

Only the chosen party members will receive EXP and Weapon drops from the battle so you can bring along other characters to passively make them stronger.

Press the Up and Down D-Pad Buttons in Battle

Pressing the Up or Down D-Pads while on the battlefield lets you change between characters currently present on your party.

You can also change characters from the Allies menu. Press the Plus (+) Button and then press the Y Button to change to the chosen character.

Issue Orders to Move Characters

You can issue orders to party members to move them to an area in the map to efficiently control multiple characters at a time.

Press the Plus (+) Button to open up the Allies menu. Select a character and then press the A Button to have them move in a specific area.

This way, you can simply switch to other characters to complete specific objectives without having to move each of them manually!
