The first DLC introduces a new playable character in the roster named the Battle-Tested Guardian. This guardian is one of the rewards for completing the new quests in the Royal Ancient Lab.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity - Master Cycle for Zelda and Flail for Link

Two new weapon types are introduced in the first DLC. These include Link's Flail and Zelda's Master Cycle.

Along with the Battle-Tested Guardian, these new weapons are some of the rewards obtained from completing the quests in the Royal Ancient Lab.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity - Vicious Monsters
Vicious Monsters are a new type of enemy introduced in the first DLC. These are a stronger variant of the usual powerful foes and can be found in challenges marked with the "EX Alert" on the map once unlocked.

New Quests

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity - EX Royal Ancient Lab

As part of the DLC Expansion Pass, a new set of quests will appear, most of which are part of the Royal Ancient Lab questline. After purchasing the DLC, a new icon will appear on the map in the Central Hyrule.

There are a total of 59 quests included in the first wave of DLC.

Along with quests, a total of 22 challenges are included in the first DLC. These challenges include the vicious monster sightings, allowing you to face more powerful foes and earn valuable rewards.

Apocalyptic Difficulty

Another feature added in the first DLC is the new Apocalyptic difficulty mode. This mode makes enemies deal more damage and have stronger weak-point gauge, offering a new challenge to returning players.

DLC Release Date and Roadmap

On February 17, 2021, Nintendo showcased the Expansion Pass for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity that was shown to feature two waves of DLC for the game. The new content for the game is set to be released throughout the year with the first one in June 18, 2021 and another in October 29, 2021.

Wave 1 DLC Details

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity - Wave 1 DLC

The Wave 1 DLC, named Pulse of the Ancients, was released on June 18, 2021, and includes one new character, new weapon types for Link and Zelda, as well as new quests.

Wave 2 DLC Details

The second wave of DLC, named Guardian of Remembrance, will roll out on October 29th, 2021 and offers new character vignettes, new stages, a second roster expansion, and new battle skills for existing characters.

How to Buy the DLC (Expansion Pass)

    1. Select Nintendo eShop from the Home Menu.
    2. Search for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
    3. Select the Expansion Pass.
    4. Proceed to purchase.
    5. After purchase, you can play once the download is complete!

The DLC (Expansion Pass) can be purchased at the Nintendo eShop from the home screen of your Nintendo Switch. You will need a credit-card or a prepaid card to purchase!

DLC Purchase Bonuses

The Expansion Pass is currently priced at 19.99 USD. As DLC, the full version of the game is required to enjoy the upcoming content.

By purchasing the DLC, players will unlock the Prototype Ancient Short Sword and the Prototype Ancient Gear Set for Link. These bonuses have been available since May 28th, 2021.
